Untitled. Performance. 2010
Performed on Cranbrook Academy of Art's campus in February of 2010,
'Untitled' was a short dialogue heavy performance. It was the second
part in a three part series of performances, the first of which went
entirely undocumented aside from verbal re-counting and written
accounts. The first part in the series consisted of a 'review' process
at Cranbrook in which the artist met with each artist in residence and
re-counted their criticisms in the next meeting. Essentially, a 'feed'
of past information was created. Each meeting was instantly
re-contextualized to shape the following dialogue.
reacted to the initial performance by informing the audience, who was
not present for the first portion, what had occurred. In addition, it
implemented a forced form of time restraint with the artist clinging to a
DiSuvero sculpture as long as possible in the cold February air. When
the artist lost his grip, the performance was over.
was entirely unsuccessful and involved a five day road trip through the
American midwest during which Patrick performed in various locations
(namely bars, living rooms, critique spaces, etc) and uploaded any
documentation to social media outlets.
