Untitled. Mixed Media Installation. 2010
Installation consisting of five sculptures and two drawings of blue tape. The sculptures are constructed within the tradition of combines and the various 'unmonumental' works of recent history. Interspersed within the constructions are handmade containers (a Chipotle Mexican Grill to go cup, a Starbucks cup). The containers are produced by reproducing the cup graphics with graphite and colored pencil on heavyweight watercolor paper. The paper is then folded into the shape of the cup and sealed on the seam with archival double sided tape thus making an object nearly indistinguishable from its original reference point. The Amazon.com box sculpture is attached to the wall with hot glue and has a hand drawn piece of blue painter's tape that appears to hold it aloft. In addition, there are two drawings of blue tape, one located high on the center wall and one located on a power outlet. Lastly, there is a handmade chunk of cardboard leaning against the back wall.
